Kane Baker introduces a collaborative performance of John Cage's 4'33'' at Gaslights, Redruth, Cornwall on Sat 22nd Sept. The three bands were: PETER PARKER'S ROCK N ROLL CLUB, MISTER POSTMAN AND HONEY.
This variation of Cage's iconic work was arranged by artist Liam Jolly, who is also on drums throughout.
The performance is part of a series of artists residencies and events based at CMR artist led space in Redruth, Cornwall to mark the John Cage Centennial.
The project titled 4 weeks 33 hours, will last for 4 weeks and 33 hours exactly.

 4 weeks 33 hours Centennial activity celebrating the life and work of composer, artist, author and thinker, John Cage (1912-1992).Artist Residency Opportunities at CMR, Redruth. 3 weeks x 3 artist residencies. (9 in total) 1 week collective distillation/discussion/preparation for:1 weekend presentation of work. To link with the international John Cage Centennial Year Celebrations, CMR artist led space is offering a cluster of short artist residencies to practitioners working in/across all art forms, who are interested in an opportunity for some serious play inspired by one of the most radical pioneers of twentieth century avant-garde culture. Artists are invited to consider Cage’s legacy and its relevance in the present day, some 60 years since the first performance of the influential silent composition 4’33’’, and to respond individually and in dialogue with co-resident artists and other collaborators of their choice. 9 residencies are available over a 3 week period, with a fourth week ring fenced for discussion, selection & preparation of material for presentation over the final weekend. The entire period of activity will span 4 weeks and 33 hours exactly. Artists are also encouraged to consider how they might engage with the town of Redruth. The nature of the final weekend should be informed by the preceding weeks of research and development, and could take a number of forms, situated in the project space and/or beyond.  You Have To Dream A Writing Event @ CMRSaturday 25 Aug, 10-2pm CMR, Redruth’s newest contemporary art gallery, will be holding its first writing event, 'You Have To Dream', on Saturday 25th August from 10am to 2pm. This will be facilitated by Caroline Palmer, a writer who is one of Cornwall Media Resource's Directors. During this relaxed session, Caroline will encourage participants to be inspired by and write about the exhibits in the show, New Visions, in fiction, descriptively or critically. 'New Visions: contemporary painting in uncertain worlds' is being curated by Duncan Hopkins, also a Director at CMR and features painting-based works by 13 artists, from Cornwall, North Devon and Austria. You Have To Dream welcomes those with all levels of skill and experience, from professionals to those beginning to write. Musicians, song writers, actors and playwrights are also welcome to take part. At some point during the session, there will be a slot for a number of people to share their work with others if they so wish. CMR also plan to feature some of the work from the event on their website. Nibbles, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be available freely throughout the session on a self service basis.  This exhibition, curated specifically for CMR Art Gallery & Project Space in Redruth, Cornwall, showcases the work of artists who use paint to present realities and perceptions in new and developed ways. In the 21st century, what is the role of the artist who uses paint and pigment? What is the continuing significance of painting in an apparently restless and uncertain world? This exhibition, featuring 13 artists from Cornwall, North Devon and Austria, offers possible answers to these questions. These working methods and artworks do not conform to some traditional expectations of painting found in Cornwall, which are often rooted in the histories of Newlyn, the modernism of St. Ives, and illusory romanticism. This exciting exhibition showcasing some of the contemporary art being produced in Redruth is being extended for another weekend. There will be some changes to the show - Chris Anthem has had to take down his paintings due to other committments, so in their place, we are going to line the gaps on the walls with paper and create a space for people to create mind maps explore ideas and visions. We will also bring in an array of instruments to encourage people to join in and have fun. This is to be all inclusive - the more non-musicians the better. in fact perhaps we'll exclude people that can play! The results of these playful experiments with sound, writing and mind-mapping may feed into future projects
